LCRF grantees, SAB member publish research findings
Your support continues to create impact as grant recipients publish findings from their work. A study on targeting resistance in ALK-positive lung cancer was published last month in Nature Cancer, and a manuscript on disparities in lung cancer treatment appeared in JCO Oncology Practice.

LCMC initates sites for study on neoadjuvant targeted therapy options
LCRF is proud to be partnering on the Lung Cancer Mutation Consortium (LCMC), which initiated trial sites at USC Norris Cancer Center, University of California-Davis, University of Michigan, and University of Washington for its fourth study, LCMC4 Evaluation of Actionable Drivers in EaRly Stage Lung Cancer (LEADER). The study examines targeted drugs given as single agents and combinations as neoadjuvant therapies matched to specific genetic mutations.

Announcing LCRF's Scientific Executive Committee
A select group of LCRF Scientific Advisory Board members has been tapped for a newly-created Scientific Executive Committee (SEC). The SEC will develop, assess, and implement a strategic research roadmap to guide LCRF’s research investment.

LCRF Scientific Advisory Board welcomes 12 new members
LCRF is pleased to expand its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) by 12 new members. The board reviews, evaluates, and selects lung cancer research proposals worthy of financial investment while providing guidance on relevant lung cancer data.

LCRF welcomes Matt Cipriani
to Board of Directors
Matt Cirpriani, owner of 3C/Cipriani Construction Consulting and Director of Healthcare for Scalora Consulting Group, has joined the LCRF Board. Matt recently shared the story of his late wife, Dr. Jennifer Zannini-Cipriani, who died last year of lung cancer.

Gala honors Dr. Brendon Stiles
LCRF's inaugural 2022 Evening of Innovation gala honors Dr. Brendon M. Stiles, who has served LCRF in several capacities while making his mark as a thoracic surgeon and researcher. The LCRF Founders Award will be presented to Dr. David Hidalgo. New York Times best-selling author Annabelle Gurwitch, a lung cancer advocate and patient, will be our host. The gala will be held Sept. 28 at New York City's Metropolitan Club.

Losing a loved one to lung cancer is unfair and difficult. It's also a specific experience that is hard to understand if you haven't been through it. This newly created group is a place for supporting each other, sharing memories of our loved ones, and connecting with others who have been on a similar journey. Our newest board member, Matt Cipriani, who lost his wife Jen to lung cancer, moderates this online group.

During LCRF's first in-person educational event in over two years, Dr. Jyoti Patel opened a dialog with patients and supporters on how lung cancer research is informing treatment. Ivy Elkins from EGFR Resisters moderated the talk and shared her perspective as a patient.

Elliot's Legacy raises over $540K
for lung cancer research
The 15th annual Elliot's Legacy, a beachside family carnival featuring kite flying in memory of Elliot Chalmé A'H, took place July 10 and raised over $540,000 towards lung cancer research. Elliot passed away from lung cancer in 2006 at the age of 56, and flying kites was a beloved activity of his.
