Scientific Executive Committee redefines framework for research grant program
Your donations already fund impactful, cutting-edge research through LCRF's grant program. Now it's time to take that impact to the next level. With an eye toward funding a total $45M in direct lung cancer research by 2024, LCRF's Scientific Executive Committee has developed a roadmap to getting us there. Find out more about what that means for future research.

January is Radon Awareness Month
Radon is the second most common cause of lung cancer, but very little is known about how radon-induced lung cancer happens. LCRF grantee Dr. Aria Vaishnavi wants to change that. Watch the presentation she gave this fall on the work she's doing. If you haven't tested your home, free kits are available from the EPA.

LCRF's Scientific Symposium in November focused on biomarkers in lung cancer, including a roundtable panel that examined topics such as liquid biopsy, molecular oncology, genetic changes, and drug responses. If you missed it, you can still watch the recording at this link.

FDA approves two treatments
The FDA recently granted accelerated approval to a drug for those with KRAS G12C-mutated lung cancer. The agency also approved a immunotherapy plus chemotherapy treatment shown to improve overall survival. Read the latest FDA news for lung cancer here.

Pro soccer player Tommy McNamara honors mom with fundraiser for research
New England Revolution midfielder Tommy McNamara raised over $20,000 for lung cancer research in honor of his mother, Kerry, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer a year ago. Tommy tells their story in a short video he released for Lung Cancer Awareness Month in November.

Running a marathon after a lobectomy
Jenn ran the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon as a proud member of Team LCRF. “I know that cutting-edge research enabled my medical team to give me the greatest chance to be cancer-free and maintain the best quality of life possible. I want research to help do the same for others.”
